ANSI Approved Industry Standards for snow ice management
![]() |
The central component of the ASCA is the publication and maintenance of the System Requirements for Snow and Ice Management Services: ANSI/ASCA A1000-2014, commonly known as the Industry Standards.
The Industry Standards for the snow and ice management industry were created to provide companies with procedures to reduce risk. These standards give you the proper documentation and procedures in defense of a potential slip-and-fall lawsuit.
What is included in the Industry Standards?
The Industry Standards for the snow and ice management industry cover many topics, including:
- Scope and Purpose
- Education and Training
- Preseason site inspection reports
- In-event documentation
- Post-event standards
- Environmental standards
- Weather service standards

How the Industry Standards are developed
The ASCA is proud to be an Accredited Standards Development Organization by the American National Standards Institute, and a leader in educational services for the professional snow and ice management industry.
The Accredited Snow Contractors Association (ASCA) was approved as an ANSI-Accredited National Standards developer on September 20, 2013. A copy of the ASCA’s approved Standards Development Procedures can be accessed here.
The standards development is driven by active member participation in committee activities. ASCA standards set the bar for professional snow and ice management services, and as such are highly valued by ASCA member companies.
